Product Details

FRONTLINE Spot On for Dogs – Kills Fleas, Ticks & Biting Lice

FRONTLINE Spot On is a fast-acting, vet-approved treatment containing fipronil, which kills fleas, ticks, and biting lice on your dog. Vets usually recommend monthly application if you are managing flea allergy dermatitis or an active infestation. Dosages are available for dogs of all sizes, from small breeds up to extra-large. Puppies can be treated from 8 weeks old, as long as they weigh at least 2kg.

Effective duration: around 2 months for fleas, up to 1 month for ticks

  • Any new fleas landing on the dog are eliminated within 24 hours.
  • Effectively controls biting/chewing lice infestations

Dosage guides

  • 2–10kg: 0.67ml pipette
  • 10–20kg: 1.34ml pipette
  • 20–40kg: 2.68ml pipette
  • 40–60kg: 4.02ml pipette
  • Over 60kg: two 2.68ml pipettes combined

Warnings

  • Bathing or shampooing up to 1 hour before application does not affect the product’s effectiveness
  • Do not bathe your dog or let them swim for two days after application
  • Weekly bathing with a gentle, soap-free shampoo won’t affect protection — avoid bathing more often than once a week, and skip skin-softening shampoos
  • Outdoor dogs or those in wildlife areas are at higher risk of fleas and ticks
  • The dose is calibrated to dog bodyweight, and using it on a cat risks overdosing.

Dealing with a flea problem at home? Spot On treats fleas and ticks on your dog but won’t stop flea eggs and larvae developing in your home. For that, see Frontline Plus.

Instructions

Applying

Applied at the base of the skull and a little further down the neck, so it’s out of reach of licking

  • Part your dog’s fur at the base of the neck, in front of the shoulder blades, until the skin is visible.
  • Place the tip of the pipette on the skin and squeeze to empty the contents completely.

Important Safety Information

  • Do not apply more than once a week.
  • Do not use on puppies under 8 weeks old
  • Do not overdose (always match the pipette to bodyweight)
  • Avoid contact with the animal’s eyes
  • Safe for use during pregnancy and lactation
  • Not suitable for use on rabbits, as adverse reactions and even death could occur
  • If your dog is unwell, speak to your vet before applying any flea treatment

Do I need a prescription to buy POM-V pet medicines online?

Yes. POM-V items require a valid prescription from your UK vet.

 Upload your prescription during checkout.

Photos must be clear. If details are wrong or expired, orders can’t be processed. This is standard across UK pet pharmacies.

No. Under UK law, vets must provide a written prescription if you request one for a POM-V medicine. They may charge a reasonable fee for issuing it, but they cannot refuse. This allows you to choose where to buy your pet’s medication, whether directly from your vet or from a registered UK pharmacy such as Ashcroft 4 Pets.

In the UK, most POM-V prescriptions are valid for 6 months, unless your vet specifies a shorter duration. Prescriptions for Schedule 2 or 3 controlled medicines are usually valid for 28 days and are not repeatable. At Ashcroft 4 Pets, we follow these same UK veterinary guidelines to ensure your pet’s medication is dispensed safely and legally.

At Ashcroft 4 Pets, we are a fully VMD-registered and accredited online retailer. This means every prescription and over-the-counter pet medicine we supply is safe, genuine, and dispensed according to UK law.

We follow all Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) rules, and our team checks every prescription carefully before processing. You can order with confidence, knowing your pet’s health is in the hands of experts and all medicines are traceable, legally supplied, and authentic.

In the UK, most repeat prescriptions for POM-V medicines are valid for up to 6 months from the date your vet issues them. You can order multiple times within this period if your vet has authorised repeats.

For controlled medicines (Schedule 2 or 3), the prescription is valid for 28 days only and cannot be repeated. These medicines are strictly regulated due to their potential for misuse.

At Ashcroft 4 Pets, we follow UK law carefully, ensuring all prescriptions are dispensed safely, legally, and in the exact amounts prescribed.

If your vet prescribes a human medicine for your pet under the Cascade, we can usually dispense against that prescription (with the right checks).
